Endoscopy Registered Nurse/Operating Department Practitioner

Band 5

Job overview

**INTERNAL HDFT APPLICANTS ONLY**

Our JAG Accredited Endoscopy team warmly invite Nurses and Operating Department Practitioners, whether you are currently registered or due to qualify, to apply for a role in our growing and innovative team.

Our Endoscopy department has benefited from a huge investment with the construction of a new, state of the art department in 2018. The department is also a centre for the National Bowel Cancer Screening Programmes.

Our Trust is investing in new technology including cystosponge and colon capsule to provide the latest diagnostic tests for patients.  This is a really exiting time to join our expanding team.

We would welcome applications from candidates without previous experience in Endoscopy, but experience in an acute Trust is desirable.

Main duties of the job

As a Trust we offer our ODP's and Registered Nurses:

  • A supernumerary period and ongoing mentoring
  • Access to Education Centre, Library and Clinical Skills Lab with quality assured Clinical Educators
  • Support and guidance with revalidation
  • Our Unit manager in Endoscopy is keen to tell newly qualified nurses about our “fantastic two-year preceptorship. Our new starters are very well supported in our friendly, welcoming team.” We also welcome applications from nurses returning to practice.
  • Support with career development - existing band 5 staff have progressed onto Nurse Endoscopist and band 6  roles within the department

HDFT is committed to supporting staff at all times but in particular during the current Covid-19 period. Staff can access a range of online and over the phone support, wellbeing lounges, Freedom to Speak Up Guardians, Fairness Champions, the Chaplaincy, Staff Networks and Staff Governors.

Working for our organisation

At Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust we provide ‘outstanding’ care to both our patients and our staff.  We support staff through benefits, health and wellbeing initiatives and opportunities for personal and professional development.

  • An inclusive and supportive culture – our Trust encourages staff to bring their whole selves to work and active Staff Networks identify areas for improvement.
  • Staff Recognition - as well as regular appraisals, we recognise staff with our Making a Difference, Team of the Month Awards & Colleague Recognition Awards
  • Employee Support and wellbeing - we have a comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme, counselling service and fast track physiotherapy service for employees.
  • Staff Benefits - We have a range of staff benefits and schemes to support staff health, engagement, wellbeing and inclusion.
