The successful candidate will be highly motivated, experienced medicine management pharmacy technician with good clinical skills and managerial skills with a working knowledge of the medicines optimisation agenda. 

 

Main duties of the job

What we are looking for:

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and adaptable Pharmacy Technician with good communication and interpersonal skills to take on this challenging post. Your role will involve working with Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and other health care professionals on providing Medicines Management services and enhancing medication safety at ward level and within the dispensary. 

The post holder will take accurate and detailed medication history and assessment of patients own drugs in order to support clinical pharmacists on medicines reconciliation. You will participate in audit and research to investigate, and where appropriate, improve the quality of service for patients within a clinical specialty. 

You will be an Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) and you must have evidence of registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and have post qualification experience working as a Pharmacy Technician within an NHS Hospital Pharmacy.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • BTEC in pharmaceutical science and or NVQ level 3 in pharmacy services or equivalent
  • Registered with GPhC
  • 2 years post qualification experience
  • ACT qualification
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ assessor i.e. A1/A2 or eqivalent
  • APTUK membership

Experience / Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Extensive post qualification experience in medicines optimisation in a hospital setting
  • Management post qualification or experience of staff and service management
  • Experience of training others
  • Medication history taking
  • Experience of managing and developing staff
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of incident and error reporting
  • Experience of the development and implementation of procedures
