Job overview

Harrogate District NHS Foundation Trust are recruiting an Advanced Clinical Practitioner for our Oncology Service. This is a new role and we are committed to developing our ACP workforce within Cancer Services

The role will work alongside the established Oncology and Acute Oncology team, comprising of Consultant Medical and Clinical Oncology Consultants, acute oncology CNS team and an Advanced Practitioner. The team work closely with colleagues from the tertiary centre in Leeds enabling the best treatment and care for our patients. 

You will be a registered ACP with a specific interest and extensive clinical experience in oncology. You will also provide support to the Acute Oncology team, providing clinical expertise and advice and supporting the AO CNS team. Main duties of the job

The main purpose of the role will be to provide expert advanced clinical practice, leadership and collaborative working, research delivery and education to staff and patients independently across inpatient and outpatient settings.

The post holder will be a clinical expert practicing autonomously as an advanced practitioner within oncology to provide patient centred care. They will be required to deliver independent assessment, clinical examination, clinical decision making and planning of care and treatment including independent prescribing.

The post holders will provide inpatient advice and support to medical teams and ward staff for patients with oncological conditions and develop strong professional relationships to ensure safe, good quality care for patients. 

The post holders will work closely with all members of the multidisciplinary team and will play an integral role in the operational and strategic development of the oncology service.

The post holders will provide a range of education and learning strategies to meet the needs of health care professionals providing care and treatment for patients with oncological malignancies across the organisation.

Qualifications and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional
  • Recognised teaching and assessing qualification
  • Degree in relevant health care related subject
  • MSC in Advanced Clinical Practice
  • Demonstrate relevant clinical and managerial experience
  • Experience of audit and/or research
  • Teaching and assessment experience in clinical practice
  • Independent Prescriber
  • Post-registration qualification in autonomous / specialist/ advanced assessment practice
Desirable criteria
  • Attainment of relevant modules studied at master’s level Leadership modules
  • ILS/ALS
