Job overview

We are looking for motivated and passionate individuals who want to work as part of the team to help provide exceptional care to a range of children, young people and their families on the acute paediatric ward.  We have a full time  post available for a Band 3, Health Care Assistant on Woodlands Ward. 
 
Woodlands is a 16 bedded unit.  The unit can be a busy unit and therefore we are looking for someone who can multi task well and is organised.  Please feel free to contact us for further detail.

Main duties of the job

  • Work as a member of the Woodlands team carrying out assigned tasks involving direct care in support of and supervised by a Registered Nurse.
  • To assist the nursing staff in the in the implementation and evaluation of family centred care and reporting any concerns to the Registered Nurse.
  • To work as an integrated member of the ward team, assisting with nursing procedures according to agreed policies
  • To act as a host and receptionist to children, their families and visitors
  • To demonstrates due diligence whilst maintaining and promoting effective working practices commensurate with the post. 
  • Maintains confidentiality relating to the welfare and treatment of patients and staff at all times.
  • To be flexible to work in different areas within the unit as required

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working with children
  • 5 GCSE grades A-C or equivalent.
  • Care Certificate or willingness to undertake Care Certificate and complete within 12 weeks
  • Previous experience working in a health setting
  • Works well within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Excellent communication skills
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ 2 or 3 in Health Care or equivalent qualification
  • Information technology awareness
  • Experience of working with the public
