Job overview

This post is a band 2 to band 3 progression depending on experience

We have a NEW and exciting development opportunity for a Pharmacy Support Worker in Stores to take on an essential role supporting the Pharmacy team. The primary responsibilities involve managing stock, ensuring inventory is well maintained and assisting in the distribution of pharmaceutical products to support day-to-day Pharmacy operations.

Main duties of the job

To work in the Pharmacy Stores and Distribution areas.

To accurately receive orders of pharmaceuticals, store them correctly and to supply them against requisitions from Wards and Departments.

To take part in the Medicines Management ward stock topping up service.

To replenish stock in the Omnicell units

Stock control and expiry date checking.

To contribute to the weekend and Bank Holiday rota.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Working with the public
  • Working in a health care setting
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ Level 2 in Pharmaceutical Services or equivalent
  • GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths
  • Working in the NHS
  • Working in a Community or Hospital Pharmacy

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Work on your own initiative and within a team
  • Able to work without supervision
  • Ability to work with complex drug names
  • Ability to learn department working patterns and procedures.
  • Good communication skills (verbal, non-verbal and able to answer phone and follow written and verbal instructions)
  • Good IT skills
