Job overview
There continues to be exciting opportunities to work in a busy, expanding First Contact Practitioner (FCP) Service at Harrogate District Hospital.
As an FCP you will be embedded in Primary care practices, with close working relationships with a large, secondary care MDT team, including; Orthopaedics, Radiology and Rheumatology.
A successful candidate will take on a mixed caseload, working at the very forefront of the patient MSK pathway. Opportunities to use advanced clinical reasoning to manage patient needs, refer on for further investigations, and specialist opinions.
There will also be CPD opportunities and support to undertake the FCP roadmap.
Main duties of the job
- Provide expert clinical decision making including referring for investigations, acting as First-contact physiotherapist (FCP) and making diagnoses/decisions about the best course of action for patients' care (including in relation to undifferentiated conditions).
- Exercise professional judgement, making, justifying and taking responsibility for decisions in unpredictable situations
- Use investigative skills to progress and request investigations to facilitate diagnosis and choice of treatment regime
- Devise and deliver programmes of supported patient self-management

- Post-Graduate MSC level study in relevant areas
- High and broad level of MSK experience and skill
- Previous NHS Experience
Desirable criteria
- Working to level 1 and 2 of the FCP roadmap
- Injection therapy qualification
- Irmer trained and experience for referring
- Experience in FCP service provision
