We are now seeking a compassionate and motivated Theatre Support Worker to join one of our dedicated Operating Main Theatres scrub team.
As a Theatre Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting multidisciplinary teams and ensuring the smooth running of theatre complex by being a part of a multidisciplinary team delivering safe, high-quality care to patients undergoing surgical procedures.
Main Theatres department's role is to provide perioperative care to patients undergoing elective and emergency surgery across a range of specialities including:
• General Surgery/ Breast
• Orthopaedics
• Gynaecology
• Urology
• Acute and Trauma
• Obstetrics
Theatres at HDFT are a very busy department and is expanding its services constantly. The Department is a dedicated unit which has five operating theatres, one obstetric theatre and a recovery area. We provide high quality, safe care to a range of patients undergoing surgical procedures and operate 24 Hours 7 days a week covering acute, trauma, elective general , gynae and obstetric surgery.
Quality and safety within the team is paramount however, we also strive to provide a patient care that is grounded in empathy, compassion and kindness.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare theatres for surgery, ensuring equipment and instruments are ready and sterile.
• Assist in the safe transfer of patients to and from theatres.
• Provide reassurance and support to patients before , during and after procedures, adopting a high professional standards and holistic behaviours
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and infection control.
• Collaborate with nurses, anaesthetists, and surgeons to ensure efficient theatre lists.
- Communicates efficiently with all patients' delivery services across the department and the trust.
- Adheres to the policy and procedures set by the service and healthcare directive.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Care Certificate
- Moving and Handling Certificate
- Theatre work experience
- Evidence of practical training or education in a care setting
- Basic Life Support Certificate
Desirable criteria
- GCSE qualifications grade 4-9 ( A* - C) and
- Maths and English level 2.
- Knowledge and skills in IT.
- Current or previous NHS work experience
- Experience of team working
