Detailed job description and main responsibilities

We are looking for hardworking and dependable Kitchen Porters to join our catering team. As a Kitchen Porter, you will play an essential role in keeping our kitchens clean, safe, and well organised. Your work will ensure that patients and staff receive a high standard of food service every day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean kitchens, associated areas, refrigerators, and food stores to required standards.

  • Carry out deep cleaning of floors, wall surfaces, and catering equipment (e.g., fryers, ovens, bain-maries).

  • Wash pots, pans, utensils, and crockery used by staff and patients.

  • Ensure food waste is disposed of correctly and stored in the designated outside location.

  • Assist with delivery of meals, collection of crockery, and movement of goods as required.

  • Unload and unpack deliveries, ensuring correct storage and stock rotation.

  • Follow Health & Safety and Food Hygiene regulations at all times.

  • Support colleagues and work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.

  • Undertake additional duties as requested by the Catering Manager or Supervisors.

KITCHEN EXPERIENCE

Essential criteria
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene Qualification (training given if required)
  • Good levels of customer service
  • An awareness of hygiene including personal hygiene
  • Drivers Licence
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience within catering.
  • Allergen training

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
