Job overview

The Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale Podiatry team are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Advanced Podiatrist with a special interest Diabetes and High Risk to join their team to be based  at  Springhill House, Scarborough, YO12 4AD. 

The Scarborough Whitby and Ryedale Podiatry team is based at Springhill House in Scarborough but provides community Podiatry services in 9 clinical locations and home visits. Due to the rural geographical locations of our locality any applicant must have appropriate transport to get to any of these locations.

On employment you will also commence our Mentorship program, giving you the support, mentorship and supervision from a senior Podiatrist to develop your skills and ability and become integrated within the team and the allied professions we work alongside.

The department can offer a variety of flexible working arrangements to meet both clinical and personal needs.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will also be expected to work at a variety of locations within the Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale locality. The caseload will be a mixture of community and hospital based clinics and domiciliary work. 

The successful applicant will work as part of the Diabetes and High risk team. Previous wound care management experience and MDT clinic work is essential. 

Good diagnostic and clinical skills are essential, good organisational and time management skills are critical to this role and you should have the ability to work on your own as well as part of a team.

As an advanced podiatrist you will work alongside the locality team lead to support and develop junior team members. Experience in mentoring colleagues and service development is essential

HDFT community services were rated outstanding in our recent CQC visit. The service is managed in 4 locality based teams which regularly meet to share knowledge and develop our clinical practice. 

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To be part of a highly motivated team having at least three years  experience working at a Band 6 / 7 level.

To work autonomously, or as part of a team, liaising with appropriate members of the Podiatry teams, Primary Health Care teams and Secondary Health Care teams, particularly in relation to service delivery and patient care.

To be responsible for the day-to-day running of own podiatry clinics (in both primary and secondary care settings), hospitals, health centres, GP surgeries, residential and nursing care homes, patient's own homes and day centres and centres for those with mental and physical impairments.

To support, develop and mentor junior colleagues and service development. To deputise for the locality team lead in their absence

Education and training

Essential criteria
  • Bsc Podiatry
  • MSc in podiatric medicine or evidence of working at Masters Level in appropriate field.
Desirable criteria
  • Member of special interest group
  • Post graduate training/ development
  • Training in the appropriate use of radiology and other investigations relating to Diabetes and High-risk patients e.g. Ultrasound, x-ray

Experience

Essential criteria
  • A minimum of 3 years of highly specialised clinical experience, in an NHS environment working in the field of Biomechanics, or completion of appopriate skill based compitencies.
Desirable criteria
  • Involvement in service development
