Job overview

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Midwife to join our dedicated maternity team as a Bereavement Midwife at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by providing personalised, sensitive care to women and families experiencing pregnancy or baby loss.

Working at York, Scarborough and the East Coast alongside the Lead Midwife for Bereavement, you will use your advanced knowledge and evidence-based practice to support families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. You will also act as a key resource for staff, promoting excellence in bereavement care and fostering a supportive, learning-focused environment.

Cross site working is a requirement for this role

Main duties of the job

In this role, you will work autonomously to deliver high standards of bereavement care while supporting and educating midwives, students, and the wider MDT.

You will contribute to the ongoing improvement of care through clinical supervision, audit, research, and participation in governance activities. The post involves teaching, mentoring, and providing leadership within the multidisciplinary team, and you may take on additional management responsibilities in the Lead Midwife’s absence. Flexibility is essential, as you may be deployed across different sites depending on clinical need, always adhering to NMC standards and Trust protocols.
