Perinatal Mental Health Midwife

Are you passionate about Perinatal Mental Health? 

We have an opportunity to join the Amethyst Team: the dedicated Perinatal Mental Health Midwives. 

 Our ambition is to provide personalised and holistic care to women and birthing people with mental health issues in pregnancy and the immediate postnatal period.

 As a specialist midwife, you will work with the NMC Code, Trust guidelines and have robust insight into national drivers, reports and evidence.

You will participate in the planning, delivery and evaluation of care and you will support smooth delivery of PMH care across the Trust's geographical area. This will include teaching the wider MDT and providing 1st point of contact for colleagues seeking PMH advice and support. You will relish and excel in MDT working and building collaboration across stakeholders. 

The post-holder will be required to provide home visits and provide some flexibility  to meet the needs of the service. Team work is essential over a large geographical area. 

Secondment opportunities should be discussed with your line manager: please gain agreement before applying.

 Your focus will be on the safety and experience of women and birthing people. This will inform your documentation , clinical care provision and the drive for an open and just culture of learning. You will understand the importance of collaboration and team work.

A highly skilled communicator you will have a drive to empower and support women and birthing people with perinatal mental health issues. Building relationships with stakeholders across the MDT and wider sectors will be essential.

Experience and Knowledge

  • Post registration experience with evidence of in-depth midwifery knowledge and skills
  • Demonstrate a robust knowledge and understanding of relevant PNMH guidance and evidence
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the MDT and women and their families
  • This role may involve lone home visits to woman and families, working across sites including all areas of the Trust footprint, therefore a car driver with full provisional driving license is essential to the role

  • Effective multi-agency/partnership working plus autonomous decision making

Qualifications and Training
