Job overview
The Bronte/Lawrence Units provide nurse led outpatient services to patients requiring a variety of treatments, including Blood transfusions, Platelet transfusion and Venesections.
We also provide intravenous therapies, including specialist treatments such as immunoglobulin, bisphosphonates and biological therapies.
We have a great team of staff and we consistently receive a 100% recommendation of good/very good from our patients friend and family survey.
Our staff gain job satisfaction from providing vital treatments for our patients, many of whom regularly attend our service. This enables a positive therapeutic relationship between patients and staff.
The role of the Unit Clerk at the Bronte/Lawrence Units is to act as Unit Receptionist whilst providing clerical support to clinical staff based on the Units, including the receipt and resolution, where possible, of enquiries from patients, visitors and staff.
Main duties of the job
The Unit Clerk will work over three days and:
- be the key point of contact for patient and staff enquiries via a variety of routes both internal and external to the Units
- respond to routine issues arising from queries and escalate any concerns to Line Manager where appropriate
- undertake basic clerical tasks, for example, production and issuing of already prepared standard and routine letters, distribution of incoming/outgoing post, photocopying and completion of standard Forms/Returns.
- collates all relevant patient records, for example case notes and investigation results, ensuring their availability for Clinical staff when required and be responsible for the maintenance of relevant filing systems
- input data to relevant computerised databases, and interrogate such databases for standard information on both a regular and ad-hoc basis

Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent. Maths and English at C or above or equivalent qualification/demonstrable experience
- Computer literacy skills to RSA2, NVQ 2 or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- Previous Office Experience
- Experience (1 year minimum) in Office/Administrative role.
- Experience of dealing with confidential information.
Skills
Essential criteria
- Able to organise and prioritise own workload.
- Ability to function effectively as part of a team
- Possess sound communication skills.
