We’re looking a healthcare support worker with enthusiasm, strong communications skills and who are driven to provide excellent patient focussed care in our women's unit. This is an exciting opportunity for a flexible individual to work within our women’s unit. This offers chance to support clinics in the Early pregnancy assessment unit(EPAU), Colposcopy, gynaecology and hysteroscopy clinics. The clinics operate Monday to Friday between 08:30-am and 17.30pm.
The successful candidate will be a team player with a strong desire to provide compassionate care and empower others within a friendly and supportive environment. You must be able to work well as part of a team and be able to use your initiative and work well under pressure. This would suit candidates with an interest or experience in gynaecology.
Main duties of the job
As a Healthcare Support Worker at York Hospital, you will be part of a multi-professional team providing high standards of care to our patients. You will maintain and promote patient independence and dignity to ensure each patient receives a positive experience. You must be able to commit to our Full Time HCSW Academy for the first 4 weeks of your employment with our Trust. Please note our HCSW Academy takes place at our training site in Holgate, York. We are unable to provide travel options or reimburse travel costs for attendance at this.

Essential criteria
- Basic literacy/ numeracy skills preferably gained through secondary school education
Desirable criteria
- NVQ/ QCF Level 2 in a health-related subject
Experience

- Detailed understanding of the role of a HCSW
- Awareness of what is important to a patient
Desirable criteria
- Experience in a care setting
