Main duties of the job
- Expert Resource: Serve as a key resource for secondary care providers on respiratory care, leveraging your extensive knowledge and experience to support best practices.
- Acute Care Support: Lead the Respiratory CNS team in the initiation and management of acute ward-based Non-Invasive Ventilation (NIV) or Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) within the working day.
- Collaborative Care: Partner with ward-based staff to promote, implement, and evaluate safe and effective standards of care for patients with respiratory diseases.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with Respiratory Consultants, Advanced Nurse Specialists, and lead the respiratory team members to contribute to the continuous development and enhancement of respiratory services.
- Educational Leadership: Support the Advanced Nurse Specialist in delivering comprehensive education and training for all grades of staff, both within formal learning programs and through informal educational opportunities.
- Data and Audit Support: Assist in the collection and analysis of national and local data for audits, and facilitate the dissemination of this information to drive service improvements and development

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse (Level 1) or equivalent qualification
- Recognised teaching/ assessing qualification
- Post registration qualification in respiratory care
Desirable criteria
- Any current respiratory qualification eg- COPD, Asthma, Spirometry
- Leadership qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Minimum 2 years post registration experience at Band 6 within respiratory care
- Evidence of continued professional development
- Ability to demonstrate an interest in ward based respiratory care
Desirable criteria
- Current experience of working as a respiratory specialist nurse for 18 months
- Experience of leading a team
- Experience in delivering an improvement plan
