Job overview
A vacancy has arisen for a part-time Band 3 Medical Secretary here in Selby Hospital. The work is varied in that you would be supporting visiting consultants in a number of different specialities.
We are a small team and a supportive & friendly working environment.
Please note: This post may become Permanent at the end of Fixed Term/Secondment.
This vacancy will be considered for a secondment opportunity. Please note - if you would like your application to be considered for secondment, you must secure agreement from your line manager beforehand that you can be released to undertake the role.
Main duties of the job
- Typing of clinic and discharge letters
- Consultant diary management
- Maintaining patient information and clinical systems
- Dealing with correspondence from patients and GP's

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to GCSE Level or equivalent. English at C or above – or equivalent qualification/demonstrable experience
- Word Processing and Computer literacy skills to RSA3/NVQ3 Level
Desirable criteria
- AMSPAR
- ECDL
Experience
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Thorough knowledge of complex medical terminology
- Previous Secretarial/Administrative experience (6 months minimum).
Desirable criteria
- Previous Office/Administrative experience in an NHS environment
