Job overview

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated registered nurse to join our team on ward 37, a specialist dementia and delirium ward. 

You will be responsible for delivering high-quality, person-centred care to patients in a dynamic clinical environment. As a Registered Nurse on our dementia and delirium ward, you’ll play a vital role in supporting patients with complex emotional and physical needs.

Main duties of the job

  • Maintain a high standard of patient focused care in accordance with York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust policies and procedures
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment
  • Undertake a wide range of diagnostic tests such as visual acuity, visual fields, intra-ocular pressures following the completion of a robust training program.
  • Support care for patients with eye emergencies, both during the working day and in regular overnight on-calls to support the medical team.
  • Provide assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care for patients, ensuring accurate written records are kept.
  • Communicate with patients and carers to ensure they have access to appropriate information.
  • Promote and maintain positive relationships between all staff involved in the care of the patient
  • Act in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Conduct and The Trust's Values (kindness, openness, excellence).
  • Undertake duties on different wards/departments as and when required by service demands
  • Demonstrate personal responsibility for compliance with infection control policies and procedures

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse (Level 1 or 2)
  • If you are an overseas nurse you must have completed your OSCE and hold valid IELT/OET Certificates. (If you are not an overseas nurse please state not applicable)

  • Willing to undergo training as necessary
