Job overview

We are looking to recruit a Band 5 Audiologists to join our UKAS accredited Adult Audiology Team. 

The post holder will be based at York and must be able to travel to other sites for example Harrogate, Thirsk, York,  Whitby and Scarborough.
There will also be the opportunity to train in paediatrics.  

The post holder will provide audiological support for ENT clinics, serving both adult and paediatric patients, within the Audiology Department and at peripheral clinics. This will include performing basic pure-tone, impedance, and speech audiometry as required.

This role requires an experienced Audiologist, capable of performing primary audiological assessments independently, without direct supervision.

Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering a comprehensive hearing aid service for patients referred by GPs and the ENT Department, encompassing the provision of a full range of NHS digital hearing aids.
  • Taking aural impressions for patients of all ages, adhering to national and departmental protocols, and applying clinical judgment to ensure safe and effective practice.
  • Assisting with paediatric testing under the supervision of a Paediatric Audiologist, and take responsibility for the daily calibration and maintenance of audiometers, impedance meters, insertion gain, and hearing aid fitting equipment used in general audiology.
  • Participating in departmental audits, research, and development, as well as contribute to the upkeep of the department, including liaising with the Works Department when necessary.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BAAT Part I or II (or equivalent).
  • Degree in Audiology (or equivalent).
  • Voluntary Registration in preparation for State Registration.
Desirable criteria
  • BSc in Audiology
  • Experience of using a computerised patient management system.
