Job overview
The post of band 4 skin cancer coordinator is an exciting opportunity for the successful applicant to work as part of the skin cancer specialist nurse service.
The skin cancer coordinator is an essential part of the service in providing support to the specialist nurses in the provision of personalised care to patients following a skin cancer diagnosis.
The successful applicant will also work closely with the wider multi-disciplinary team to coordinate patients pathways and ensure wherever possible that waiting time targets are met. The role will also provide the opportunity for patient contact by telephone and within the clinic setting as required to enhance the patient experience.
This role is offered on a fixed term basis of 6 months, applicants interested in a secondment opportunity are also encouraged to apply.
The role can be based at either York or Scarborough Hospitals but may require some travel to other trust sites dependent on the service need. The requirement to travel will be minimal.

Main duties of the job
To work as a valued member of the specialist nurse team in the provision of collaborative care to patients who have received a skin cancer diagnosis.
Act as the patient's initial point of contact by offering appropriate support or information as required or escalating to the cancer nurse specialist when indicated.
Coordination of the specialist nurse service to include planning of the daily clinical activity, nurse-led clinics and own caseload of patients.
To work collaboratively with the wider multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to coordinate patient actions as identified in the weekly MDT meeting or received via the team group email box.
Participation in holistic needs assessment clinics to follow up on initial contact with patients and ensure the prompt delivery of personalised care following a skin cancer diagnosis.

- Educated to GCSE or equivalent in core subjects or evidence of working at the equivalentlevel

- Experience within/ or understanding of the field of oncology
- Experience of working with cancer patients
- Experience of or understanding of waiting time targets
