Are you keen to further develop yourself both clinically and professionally within the acute Cardiology setting? If so then an exciting opportunity has arisen.
The Coronary Care Unit (CCU) is seeking dynamic nurses to join our team in a band 6 Cardiac Outreach & Deputy Charge Nurse post.
Previous CCU experience is essential, as is the ability to lead and support the nursing team effectively.
You must be a current ALS provider and have completed a university ECG interpretation module.
You must be dedicated to the provision of high standards of patient care and the continuous development of the service we provide to our patients.
You will be expected to support, teach and develop the knowledge and skills of your junior colleagues. We facilitate regular team days for this.
There are excellent opportunities for professional and personal development within this interesting and stimulating environment; we will support you to develop your own clinical and managerial skills, both within the trusts learning opportunities and via our links with York and Leeds Universities or external training providers.

We promote flexible working practices within the unit although internal shift rotation, including nights and weekends, is required for this post.
Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd
CCU comprises of 8 Level 0-2 beds where patients are cared for with conditions including, but not limited to; Myocardial Infarctions, Cardiogenic shock (requiring inotropic support), Acute Coronary Syndromes, post cardiac arrest care, thrombolysis, rhythm abnormalities (including unstable patients requiring isoprenaline / the insertion of a temporary pacing wire and / or external pacing, as well as both Urgent and Elective DCCV), acute pulmonary oedema (including those requiring NIV or / or inotropes), heart failure and congenital abnormalities. There is also a telemetry monitoring service which consists of 14 portable cardiac monitors used throughout the hospital on the inpatient wards.
We also care for patients following a variety of procedures including diagnostic angiography, Percutaneous Coronary Interventions (PCI’s), permanent pacemaker insertions and patients that have been repatriated from a tertiary center following Primary PCI.
We provide a 24 hour Cardiac Outreach Service within York Hospital.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Clinical management of the CCU in a deputy team lead capacity.
- Day to day shift management and coordination.
- Cardiac outreach.
- Member of the crash / medical emergency team.
