Job overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced dietitian to join the York Hull Adult Cystic Fibrosis Centre – a dynamic, compassionate, and forward‑thinking multidisciplinary team. As a key member of our centre, you will play a pivotal role in designing and delivering expert care for adults with cystic fibrosis, working closely with specialist clinical psychologists, physiotherapists, pharmacists, nurses, consultants, and wider MDT colleagues to optimise health outcomes.
Multidisciplinary teamwork is at the heart of this post. You will work closely with the MDT to address complex nutritional challenges, support inpatients and outpatients across the care pathway, and contribute to shared decision‑making and treatment planning. You will also have opportunities to lead cystic fibrosis dietetic related developments and to contribute to centre development, education, and quality improvement within a supportive, innovative environment. Individual development is important to our team and you will be supported to develop your knowledge, skills and passions through supervision, coaching and educational opportunities such as conferences.

Main duties of the job
As a highly specialist dietitian in the cystic fibrosis centre, you will deliver expert nutritional assessment, treatment, and ongoing management for adults with complex CF‑related needs, including CF diabetes, liver disease, and those requiring advanced nutrition support. You will work autonomously, managing your own caseload while contributing specialist oversight across the wider multidisciplinary team.
A core part of the role involves shaping high‑quality, evidence‑based dietetic care across the York Hull Cystic Fibrosis Centre. You will work closely with the Hull based dietitian to provide clinical leadership, support cross‑trust working, and contribute to service improvement initiatives that enhance patient pathways, strengthen governance, and improve outcomes.
You will act as a resource for colleagues, offering highly specialist advice, training, and supervision to junior staff and students, while supporting education, audit, and research activity across the service. You will lead or contribute to clinical networks, service evaluation, outcome measurement, and the implementation of innovation.
With strong communication skills and a commitment to multidisciplinary teamwork, you will play a key role in delivering compassionate, high‑quality CF care across our regional CF centre.

Experience and knowledge
Essential criteria
- Experience in specialist role, including the management of a range of specialist conditions, with substantial evidence of additional knowledge acquired through formal and informal clinical supervision
- Evidence of ability to lead and act as an authority on the management of complex clinical presentations in specialist area
- Evidence of relevant experience
- In-depth understanding of current issues in health care Standards of Professional Practice
Desirable criteria
- Highly experienced in the identification and use of outcome measures to evaluate clinical treatment
- Significant experience of training/supporting others (including students) within specialist clinical area
- Evidence of having led the delivery of relevant audit/research projects
Skills and abilities
Essential criteria
- Highly proficient organisational and prioritisation skills
- Evidence of ability to lead engagement activities with others and understanding of the importance of good communication when implementing change
- Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams acting as an advocate for dietetics and authority in relevant specialist area
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to use appropriate technology and software to support dietetic work
- An appreciation of the required level of data accuracy in nutritional analysis
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of significant personal development in relevant specialist area
- Able to transport self and pieces of equipment around a rural area where public transport may not be available
Qualifications and Training
