Job overview
Applications are invited for the role of ST3 to join our Haematology team based at York Hospital.
The successful candidate will join our Haematology Consultant team of five substantive members.
The Clinical Haematology service is primarily provided on the York hospital site. Whilst also providing a limited service on the Scarborough hospital site. Covering the full range of adult haematological disorders including all types of haematological malignancy, apart from Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. We are a non-comprehensive haemophilia centre.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be a central member of a multidisciplinary team providing inpatient and outpatient haematology care. The post holder will be supported in keeping themselves up to date with current knowledge & practice, expected to attend clinical meetings within the department & to participate in audit & “in-service” training of other healthcare professionals.
The post holder will be required to deputise for absent colleagues from time to time and to perform additional duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.
The post is not a recognised training post, but would be ideal for those wishing to gain further experience in the specialty.
Whilst the post is advertised as full time, reduced hours will be considered.

Qualifications/Experience
Essential criteria
- • Has achieved MBChB or equivalent medical qualification.
- • At least 2 years experience of working at IMT/CMT level.
- • Previous placement in Clinical Haematology
- • Previous experience of working in the NHS
Eligibility
Essential criteria
- • Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of starting the post

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
