Job overview

An 18 month fixed term (or secondment for NHS employees) opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Reporting Analyst to join the Business Intelligence team at a very exciting time in the department. 

We are currently going through a period of transformation where we are re-shaping how information services are delivered within the organisation, in line with the implementation of a new Electronic Patient Record (EPR). The successful candidate will be playing a key role in maintaining our business as usual service whilst we develop new reporting processes.

Interviews for this position will be held in person ONLY at one of our Trust sites. Remote interviews will not be offered.

Main duties of the job

You will be using your knowledge of reporting and analysis to support operational performance and contribute to national reporting obligations. We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, which will be required to engage with stakeholders, define reporting requirements, and deliver an excellent information service. You will work with the utmost accuracy, paying attention to the detail and quality of every report, ensuring that it is relevant and useful to the user. 

The post holder will have a confident and self-motivated attitude, good organisational skills and be able to prioritise their own workload in order that deadlines are met and ensure high standards of services are maintained.  Advanced spreadsheet skills and knowledge of Business Intelligence reporting is essential. Experience in creating visualisations using Power BI is also highly beneficial. In addition, you will need to be able to effectively communicate with clinical and clerical staff across both internal and external organisations.

Education, Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • Diploma (or equivalent e.g. NVQ 4 or 5) or equivalent experience of information handling and analysis gained in a work environment
  • Evidence of further professional development

Experience and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • In depth knowledge of information analysis and the use of performance management information
  • Experience in providing analytical expertise to support delivery of performance targets.
  • Evidence of developing clear and concise information management reports, procedures and guidance documents.
  • Experience of working with a variety of databases, extract and reporting tools.

Skills and Attributes

Essential criteria
  • Analytical skills required to assist with improvements of operational performance including ability to interpret management information
  • Advanced Excel spreadsheet skills.
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge in the use of Power BI and/or Data Warehousing
