Job overview

The Medical Elective Services(MES) treat approximately 600 patients a month. We provide treatments for all specialities within York Hospital and the service we provide is nurse led. MES is an outpatient service open Monday to Friday, 0700-1900.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a enthusiastic, motivated registered nurse to join our friendly and dynamic team. We are looking for caring individuals who have a flexible approach to working and  you will need to  have experience of at least 18 months band 5 nursing within the acute setting.

The successful applicants must possess excellent communication skills and enjoy working as part of a team as well as on their own autonomously. We require a staff nurse who has drive and passion for this area of work and is committed to the delivery and development of nurseled services. Skills such as venepuncture, cannulation  and intravenous drug administration are desired . With the exciting development of an MES clinic at Selby , driving is an essential part of the role as cross site cover is required.

The post advertised is for 30 hours per week

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the job

  • Maintain a high standard of patient focused care in accordance with York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust policies and procedures
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment
  • Provide assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care for patients, ensuring accurate written records are kept.
  • Communicate with patients and carers to ensure they have access to appropriate information.
  • Promote and maintain positive relationships between all staff involved in the care of the patient
  • Act in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Conduct
  • Undertake duties on different wards/departments as and when required by service demands
  • Demonstrate personal responsibility for compliance with infection control policies and procedures
