Job overview

Applications are invited from medical oncology doctors on the specialist register (or within 6 months of CCT) who are interested in joining the Gynaecology and Colorectal  cancer teams. 

The successful applicant will be the 2nd consultant in  both the Gynaecology & Colorectal cancer teams and will have a 1:8 week on call commitment.

Consultants in Medical Oncology will have an honorary lecturer contract with the Hull and York medical school (HYMS) and will have the opportunity to become involved in undergraduate teaching (see below).

Main duties of the job

  • Managing and treating patients with Gynaecological and Colorectal cancers as part of the site specific MDTs 
  • On call and acute cover for oncology inpatients and new inpatient referrals on a rotational basis (1 week out of 8)
  • Attending weekly multi-disciplinary meetings
  • Honorary lecturer at Hull York medical school (HYMS)
  • Participate in clinical research as appropriate
  • Training and teaching speciality trainees in medical oncology

Essential criteria
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in medical oncology via; CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview) or CESR
  • Hold a medical qualification registered with the GMC
  • Hold a license to practise with the General Medical Council
Desirable criteria
  • Post graduate degree (MD or PHD)
  • Substantive NHS experience
