We are looking for forward-thinking and enthusiastic clinical pharmacist to join our family health team and participate in education and training of our team.
You will be managed by and deputise for the Senior Pharmacist for Paediatrics/ Maternity and be a key member of the multidisciplinary team. You will be given opportunity to develop your prescribing and clinical skills as well as participating in project work to develop guidance, pathways and applications for new medicines.
This post is based at York Hospital but there will also be opportunities to work with the education and training team in supporting and delivering education programmes for pharmacy undergraduates and qualified pharmacy professionals.
The variety in this role presents an ideal opportunity to form and develop clinical, teaching and leadership skills – training and development in all these areas will be supported.

Main duties of the job
You must possess excellent communication skills, have a wide clinical interest and demonstrate competence in technology and improvement. Strong interpersonal skills are essential as is a commitment to education, training and innovation.
We welcome interest from pharmacists from all backgrounds, but you must hold or be at least one year through completion of a postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy to Diploma level.
An independent prescribing qualification is desirable, but not essential as there will be a funded opportunity to work towards obtaining an NMP qualification depending on your experience.

Education
Essential criteria
- Degree in pharmacy (masters or equivalent)
- A length of experience sufficient to gain the competencies required for the post (at least one year).
- Registered Member of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- Continuing Professional Development to the requirements of the GPhC.
- Postgraduate clinical qualification(or working towards) in pharmacy to Diploma level
Desirable criteria
- Member of Royal Pharmaceutical Society or professional group
Experience
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of Medicines & Pharmacy Legislation including Controlled Drugs, professional ethics, Health & Safety and the wider Health Service.
- Knowledge of Clinical Governance, Medicines Optimisation, Risk Management, NICE guidance’s, Shared Care Guidelines and the modernisation agenda relevant to the post.
- Knowledge of theoretical and practical issues, including professional guidelines, related to use of medicines and practice of pharmacy in the specialist areas.
- Experience of hospital pharmacy service delivery, either from employment within the hospital service, or by working closely with it (such as whilst employed in the CCG or GP practice).
- Understanding and practical experience of audit and evidence of service improvement.
Desirable criteria
- Practical application of clinical governance and medicines management.
- Junior (supervisory) Management training

- Good verbal and written communication skills and well developed interpersonal skills.
