Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to bring individual strength and dynamism to a post where you will need to be highly motivated, experienced and dedicated with proven operational experience.

You will be driven and passionate about Community Services and will have a track record in service improvement and development.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for operational management across the Adult Community Services we provide, giving support and leadership to the wider team. You will work in partnership with the Matrons and AHP Operational Manager as the senior leadership team charged with delivering an exciting vision for community services, shaping services, partnerships and a workforce that will drive forward our commitment to outstanding care.

You will be strategic in your understanding of the importance of developing services outside of hospital, and how different parts of the system impact on each other, while remaining calm and decisive in times of escalation. You will be a strong communicator with the influencing skills, political astuteness and resilience to ensure patient safety, quality, access and a positive patient, carer and staff experience is upheld.

You will also be required to participate in the hospital management on-call rota.

Person specification

Education

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification or experience
  • Post graduate qualification or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • A willingness and aptitude to undertake further training as required to carry out the role
Desirable criteria
  • NHS Management experience at band 7 level or above or equivalent
  • Recognised higher level qualification/masters (e.g. MBA,MA)/post graduate qualification in a relevant area or masters level equivalent experience

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience of the Acute or Community Health Provider sector with previous experience of working at senior management level
  • Evidence of an in-depth knowledge of NHS priorities, processes and operational issues
  • Experience of change management, policy development, organisational change, service development
  • Experience of managing or supervising of junior staff
  • Demonstrate experience of budgetary and financial management skills
  • Experience in NHS complaints management
  • Promote and lead risk management/clinical governance and its implications to the relevant specialty
