We are looking for a Specialist Physiotherapist to join our supportive multidisciplinary team.
We provide specialist physiotherapy assessment, treatment, and management for adults with cystic fibrosis across hospital, clinic, home and virtual care settings. We offer inpatient and outpatient, services along with 24/7 access to expert advice for clinicians and people with CF via our on-call service.
Working across our York and Hull sites, you’ll be part of a team committed to equitable, evidence-based care and continuous service improvement.
We are Looking for
- Expertise in respiratory physiotherapy, ideally with some experience of care for people with CF.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- A flexible, team-oriented approach with a commitment to patient-centred care.
We are a supportive and growing team of consultants, physiotherapists nurses, dietitians, psychologists, and pharmacists. We offer regular supervision and CPD via a culture of innovation, research and collaboration.
You will be supported by a specialist team and our two advanced clinical specialist physiotherapists for CF. Our centre has a track record of supporting career progression through opportunities to be involved in research, support with postgraduate education and apprenticeship.
Main duties of the job
- To undertake specialist physiotherapy assessment and management of people attending the York Hull Adult Cystic Fibrosis Centre.
- To determine clinical diagnosis/need and deliver physiotherapy intervention as indicated.
- To provide support, specialist advice and training to other members of staff and students.
- To act as a resource within the department and Trust, providing specialist information and advice regarding patients.
- To maintain records as an autonomous practitioner in accordance with legislation, professional and service policy.
- To provide support to other colleagues when dealing with this group of patients.
- To be responsible for a defined area of service working without direct supervision. Clinical work is not routinely evaluated, however clinical work will be evaluated in line with Trust and service objectives. Access and advice is available from senior professional colleagues if required.
- Initiate evidence-based audit and projects to evaluate and improve clinical practice. Initiate and evaluate user involvement and where appropriate make local service changes
The ability to transport yourself and equipment across the locality during the course of a normal working day is required for this vacancy. Access to a vehicle that can be used for business purposes and hold a full and valid driving licence (role will involve travel to numerous addresses that cannot be easily accessed by public transport means) is required.

Education, Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
- Degree in Physiotherapy and HCPC Registered Physiotherapist
- Evidence of post graduate training within specialist area (respiratory and/or cystic fibrosis)
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of post graduate qualification or accreditation within specialist area of respiratory and/or cystic fibrosis
Experience & Knowledge Required
Essential criteria
- Experience in a relevant junior role, including the management of a range of conditions, with evidence of additional knowledge acquired through formal and informal training and supervision.
- Evidence of ability to manage complex clinical presentations.
Desirable criteria
- Developed / Specialist clinical skills within relevant area.
- Experience of training/supporting others (including students) within specialist clinical area
Skills & Attributes
Essential criteria
- Ability to demonstrate appropriate engagement with others and understanding of the impact of good and poor communication
- Ability to work as an effective member of a team
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of personal development in relevant area
