People for Patients. Our People, our Patients, our Priority

Job overview

Do you want to help make our hospital a better place for our patients and staff?

This is an exciting opportunity to take on the role of Charity Assistant for York & Scarborough Hospitals Charity (Y&S HC).

As Charity Assistant, you will be the first point of contact for enquiries into the charity through the Charity Office. Reporting to the Head of Charity although supporting all members of the team to deliver the charity strategy, you will play an invaluable role in day-to-day operational activity of the charity, providing administrative and fundraising support to the Charity Team.

Main duties of the job

Through excellent customer service and attention to detail, you will assist in building and developing fundraising relationships with donors, supporters and volunteers.

You will have responsibility for thanking all donations received, accurately recording financial data and supporter information on our CRM database, keeping digital fundraising platforms updated and relevant and assisting with direct-mail and newsletters for distribution to our supporters. You will be required to attend meetings and take minutes.

The role involves communicating with a wide range of people; internal trust staff, patients and family members as well as community groups and local businesses, so an ability to adapt to these difference audiences is essential.

You will be someone with a positive outlook and attitude, a strong team player and be keen to make a difference for our hospitals through your work in a busy fundraising environment. Previous charity or fundraising experience would be an advantage but not essential.

The role is based in the Charity Office at York Hospital, although you will occasionally be required to travel to other sites within York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and work out of hours when required for fundraising events.
