Job overview

We are seeking enthusiastic, Newly Qualified Midwives to join our existing Maternity teams across our York and Scarborough sites. As we embark on key transformational change, this is a fantastic time to join our trust and drive positive change.

As you commence your Midwifery career with us, you will be fully supported by our Retention Midwives and the Practice Education Team.  We offer a robust induction period, followed by a comprehensive preceptorship programme, to support the consolidation of theory and practice acquired during your Midwifery training. You will be supported to acquire additional competencies and to care for our service users, in preparation for progression to Band 6.

With a strong Senior Leadership team, a drive for innovation and transformation, and a culture of providing psychological safety, we are an excellent choice for you to begin your Midwifery journey.

Main duties of the job

Successful candidates will work autonomously within locally agreed policies and guidelines, taking account of the NMC code in relation to practice.

You will be responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care to women and their babies throughout pregnancy, Labour and the postnatal period.

You will manage your own workload and meet the needs of women and their babies. There will be a further requirement for more experienced Midwives to support students, our International Recruits, and Newly Qualified Midwives. Participating in an on-call rota may be applicable.
