Are you a midwifery student due to qualify this summer or January 2027? 

We’re excited to open our doors to 3rd year student midwives who are beginning to think about the next step in their professional journey. This dedicated open day is a chance to explore what it’s like to begin your career as a Band 5 midwife within York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals.

Main duties of the job

What to expect on the day

 You'll have the opportunity to meet the people who will support and guide you through your transition from a student to a confident, autonomous practitioner:

  • Preceptorship Lead Midwife - here to talk you through our structured preceptorship programme, what support you can expect and how we help you build confidence in your first 12-18 months
  • Practice Development Team - ready to share insights into ongoing learning, clinical skills development and how we nurture your growth as a newly qualified midwife
  • Current Band 5 Midwives - an honest, friendly Q&A with those who were in your shoes not long ago. You can ask about their experiences, challenges and what they love about working here with us
