We are seeking a qualified experienced nurse  to work within an integrated healthcare model.

The successful candidate will be an excellent team player who works closely with patients, the health care multidisciplinary team and the prison service to ensure comprehensive and Trauma informed care is provided to patient.

In addition to the benefits offered under the NHS terms and conditions of service, this post additionally attracts a Recruitment and Retention incentive of £3000  for the successful applicant/s paid over the first 18 months of employment (given probation / supervision standards are met),  Please note incentive payments are not applicable to existing NHFT substantive staff. Please note this post is subject to security vetting. To be considered for this post you will need to have continuously resided in the UK for a minimum of 3 years prior to this application and be able to evidence your years of residency. 

 

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will undertake various duties within the prison setting, including acting as a responder to emergencies, screening patients, triage and working in partnership with other agencies to provide care.

Previous experience of working in a prison is especially desirable, but not essential. You will benefit from an extensive supernumerary period, access to a full range of training and be encouraged to develop your skills within this role.

Essential criteria
  • The application includes evidence of the required years of UK residency to meet prison vetting standards

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria
  • RGN / RMN on the NMC register or Paramedic on the HCPC register
  • Be educated to post graduate degree level or 18 months post qualification experience
  • Have experience of data collection, audits and report writing.
Desirable criteria
  • Have experience and knowledge of working in a secure environment
  • Have experience of managing groups of staff, dealing with staff issues and managing performance, sickness and conduct matters

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Have excellent written and oral communication skills, ensuring contemporaneous healthcare records are maintained.
  • Be able to work in a fast paced, multi-level environment
Desirable criteria
  • Actively participate in and support clinical audit and clinical governance systems at a local level, including the collection of data
