Diabetes Specialist Podiatrist

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated podiatrist to join the Diabetic and High-Risk Podiatry service in Northamptonshire. We pride ourselves on supporting innovation and development of the service we deliver.

 The post will involve providing high risk foot and wound care in the diabetic foot. The successful post holder will be expected to have had experience of autonomous clinical decision making in active diabetic foot disease. Demonstrating leadership skills and a passion for working with this often challenging and complex caseload.

Evidence of working in a MDT, excellent communication skills and high levels of demonstrable team working are required.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will work closely with the clinical lead and the other band 7 advanced podiatrists to support the delivery of the service, achieve key performance indicators, and provide high quality patient centred, evidence-based care. The post will also involve providing mentorship and coaching to support the community podiatry team.

 You will be required to work within an established team County wide. The role is based in the north of the county.

 It is a requirement of this role for the successful candidate to undertake a qualification in non-medical prescribing if this has already not been achieved. On- going mentorship and clinical supervision will be provided to support safe prescribing and clinical practice.

 Our multidisciplinary diabetic foot team currently consists of a diabetologist, band 8a clinical lead , consultant Podiatrist and band 7 diabetes advanced specialists.  The team are further supported by a vascular and orthopaedic surgeon, antimicrobial pharmacists, podiatry assistants. In addition, the service employs advanced podiatry practitioners specialising in prescribing bespoke footwear.
