Job overview

NHFT is contracted to provide integrated health care services to HMP Littlehey. Currently we are looking to recruit an innovative band 6 Nurse/Charge Nurse to our existing team. The post holder will deliver the highest standard of care required to meet the diverse and complex healthcare needs of an adult male population.


We are looking for an enthusiastic, friendly team player who is, passionate about all aspects of Nursing, and who has exceptional clinical skills. The post holder will lead by example, demonstrating consistent exemplary standards of care and professionalism, is innovative and keen to drive nursing forward. HMP Littlehey is a large Category C prison located in the picturesque village of Perry near to   Grafham Water near Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire with free parking, staff restaurant and an onsite gymnasium.

Healthcare services are delivered from two modern well equipped healthcare centres by a multi-disciplinary team who have, in the past, won the prestigious WHO European Best Practice in Prisons Award. Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Essential 

·      Registered Nurse Adult educated to degree level, or with equivalent experience, with at least 2 years post-registration practice.

·      Excellent wide ranging clinical skills. A proven record of higher level clinical decision making ability.

·      Evidence of wide ranging post-registration healthcare training.

Desirable

·      A recognized management/teaching qualification.

·      Previous prison healthcare experience.

·      Evidence of specific prison healthcare training. Advanced/Immediate Life Support Provider.
