Job overview

Skylark Ward is looking for Registered Paediatric Nurses (and Paediatric Student Nurses), to join our growing team. Our service is dedicated to providing excellent care to our patients and their families.  We are looking for nurses who are highly motivated, innovative and willing to rise to the challenges that Paediatric nursing demands.  Our service cares for patients with a variety of medical and surgical conditions, with acute and planned presentations, as well as longer term patients.

We are currently developing our High Dependency provision, enabling us to and this had lead to further opportunities for staff to undertake the High dependency critical care course, as well as courses in Immediate life support and advanced life support.  We thrive on developing our team, successful applicants will be able to work I this acute setting responding to changes in patients conditions and situations.  We undertake simulations on a regular basis to update and refresh our skills, and base these on any current topics and themes.

About us: Skylark Ward is a modern, purpose-built 22 bedded inpatient ward for babies, children and young people from 1 day old up to 16-18 years. Within Skylark there is a two-bedded Paediatric High Dependency bay. We care for all different specialties including Medical, Surgical, Orthopaedics, Young people with Mental Health Conditions and Ear, Nose and Throat speciality. We also have a 6 bedded Paediatric Assessment Unit which is open Monday – Friday 09:00 – 21:30.

The Role: This post is a rotational post working both day and night shifts; therefore flexibility with working hours is essential.

Professional Development: There would be an opportunity to rotate if you wish to work within the Neonatal Unit or Paediatric Area in Emergency Department.

An Excellent Location- the Trust is located close to Kettering Train Station which has direct links to London and other major cities. Our Trust has easy access to the A14 and M1.
