Rotational Pharmacist

Band 6

Job overview

This is a progression role for Band 6 to Band 7.

*We would consider UK registered pharmacists  with no previous hospital experience*

Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is looking for enthusiastic and dedicated pharmacists to join the team. We offer bespoke training for pharmacists with a background in community pharmacy and offer dedicated training to facilitate the transition into hospital pharmacy. This is a progression role for Band 6 to Band 7.

It is an exciting time to join this innovative department as we are in the process of rolling out our dedicated ward pharmacy service to medical wards. This will provide pharmacists with job satisfaction to be able to use clinical skills to support patient care.

In addition, you will be given the opportunity to study for a postgraduate clinical diploma at De Montfort University, Leicester. This course was developed jointly between the university and hospital pharmacies in the East Midlands offering a high level of training and support.

Kettering is well placed - only an hour from London, within easy reach of Cambridge, Leicester and Peterborough, and surrounded by beautiful countryside. On site accommodation may be available if required.

If you are looking for the opportunity to further your career and you share our commitment to excellence in delivering patient care, then we would like to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

We provide rotations through medicine (cardiology, respiratory, care of the elderly, endocrine), urgent care (medical admission wards, ED and frailty unit) surgery , paediatrics and acute admissions. We also support training off site in our local medicines Information centre. Each rotation includes a ward based clinical commitment where you will be provided with your own dedicated senior pharmacist for developmental support. You will also join our team of on call pharmacists giving you the opportunity to gain experience and develop confidence whilst working alone to provide an out of hours service to the Trust.

Working for our organisation

Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest employers in the area and we are on an exciting journey. Our mission is to provide safe, compassionate, and clinically excellent patient care, by being an outstanding employer for our people. We have entered into a Group Model with neighbouring Northampton General Hospital and have become University Hospitals of Northamptonshire.
