Job overview
An opportunity has arisen for a gynae nurse practitioner with sonographer qualification to join our friendly Gynaecology Same Day Emergency Care Team. (GSDEC)
A passion for the delivery of high-quality care is essential for supporting the needs of the women accessing our service. As a band 7 nurse practitioner you will be required to demonstrate the ability to work independently and take the lead on care.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible and accountable for the safe and effective nursing care for all women within the Gynaecology Same Day Emergency Care and Termination of Pregnancy service. You will provide clinical leadership, nursing expertise and specialist advice to staff regarding women accessing the Gynaecology service

- Level one Adult NMC registration
- Completion of MSc level Medical Ultrasound with specialist modules in Medical Physics and Early Pregnancy +/- Gynaecology ultrasound
Desirable
- Masters Degree in health / nursing related studies

- Registered Nurse/Current NMC registration
- Educated to Diploma/Degree level
- Evidence of continuing development
- Evidence of Leadership, management and speciality knowledge
- Postgraduate Certificate in Medical ultrasound with specialist modules in Medical Physics and Early pregnancy and Gynaecology ultrasound
knowledge and experience
Essential criteria
- Gynaecology nursing experience of at least 4 years
- Competent in Ultrasound diagnostic test relevant to field
- Evidence of skills and knowledge/development in clinical practice
- Understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures
Skills
Essential criteria
- Good communication skills – verbal and written
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills including counselling skills required for breaking bad news
- Good at organising own workload and delegating to others where appropriate
- Ability to work autonomously within the bounds of existing knowledge and skills
