Job overview
Due to the expansion of the maternity vaccination programmes, our highly successful Maternity Immunisations Team are looking to employ an enthusiastic and experienced Midwife/Nurse to join the team.
This is a part time position, 18.75 hours per week. We offer an excellent training package relevant to the role which will be provided, and you will be actively supported in continuing professional development.
Main duties of the job
You will be actively supported in continuing professional development.
The post holder will work within the Maternity Immunisations Team, alongside the Antenatal & Newborn (ANNB) Screening Team, to develop, monitor and promote the immunisation services available at KGH.
To deliver the NHS maternity immunisation programmes, which includes Pertussis, seasonal Influenza, Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) vaccinations, as well as the BCG vaccination to eligible babies.
To provide the highest quality care required to support each woman in their pathway, whilst improving maternity experience, maintaining clinical credibility and disseminating knowledge.
To manage resources and participate in the coordination of clinics and appointments.
To maintain databases relating to the update of vaccinations.
To be proactive in the collation of data and the reporting of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to the immunisation programmes.

Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- Awareness of local and national agendas
- Awareness of the public health agenda around immunisations in pregnancy and the BCG programme
- Minimum of 1 years post qualification experience
Desirable criteria
- Awareness and respect for women’s and relatives cultural, religious and emotional needs and beliefs
- Safeguarding Children Level 3
Education, Training and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Midwife or Nurse
- Relevant Degree or evidence of further study and experience to the equivalent
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of further study at post registration level
- Immunisation experience
Applicant requirements
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
