Job overview
Our Breast Unit is expanding, and we’re looking for a dedicated Band 5 Breast Clinic Nurse to join our friendly, patient‑focused team at our Breast Outpatient department at Kettering General Hospital. This is a part-time, permanent role.

Main duties of the job
- To provide quality nursing care in the support of patients, (both women and men) undergoing breast assessment investigations and treatment.
- To deliver high quality care to patients attending the Breast Clinic, always maintaining privacy and dignity.
- To provide holistic support to patients and their relatives/carers through effective communication.
- Provide wound care and support patients with complex wounds.
- To promote breast awareness and health education.
- To work as part of the multi-disciplinary team. To participate in training and education designed to extend personal knowledge and skills.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- NMC Registered Nurse
- Degree level qualification
Desirable criteria
- Previous breast experience
- Previous outpatient experience
- More than one year post registration experience
- Wound care course/specific experience
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- Able to assess wounds and apply appropriate dressings
- Able to demonstrate care and compassion to patients at a distressing/emotional time
- Competent to provide support to junior members of the team
Desirable criteria
- Competent at removing wound drains
- Able to manage the day to day flow of the clinics in the absence of Sister/Unit Manager
- Knowledge of and ability to educate patients in breast awareness
- Knowledge of breast screening programme
Skills
Essential criteria
- Ability to liaise with members of the multidisciplinary team
- To assist doctors with clinical procedures
- Communication skills (children and adults)
- Sensitive and diplomatic approach to patients in an emotional situation
- To work as part of a dynamic team

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
