On-call - 20:00 to 07:00 Monday to Thursday, 20:00 Friday to 07:00 Monday. (1 in 7)
Kettering General Hospital is looking to recruit an Endoscopy Decontamination Technician within our existing Endoscopy Department.
As such an opportunity is available for an Endoscopy Decontamination Technician to be part of the team providing the decontamination and sterilisation service to our consultants and patients. Your main responsibility is to ensure that you decontaminate/sterilise medical equipment and work as part of the team reprocessing all endoscopes for the Endoscopy Unit and Theatres to the highest standards assisting the teams and ensuring patient safety.
Ideally you will have previous decontamination experience dealing with endoscope reprocessing and demonstrate a good understanding of decontamination standards and practice, however no experience is necessary as full training is provided. You must be able to work under pressure, demonstrate good communication skills and have excellent organisational ability.
Once trained you will be required to participate with On call (1 in 7).
Main duties of the job
The Duties of the Endoscopy Technician is to assist in the safe process of Decontamination and Sterilisation Endoscopes and associated surgical instruments throughout the Hospital.
To comply, maintain and uphold all aspects of Decontamination Compliance ISO- JAG relevant to your grade and position.

To work in all production areas of the department

To be responsible for final product release

To monitor compliance with dress code, maintenance of the clean working environment

To decontaminate flexible endoscopes for use in operating theatres and Endoscopy

To supply products to specified areas in agreed quantities and to specified properties and cleanliness

To inspect and assemble flexible scopes according to the agreed specification

To ensure by examination that products have met the required standards

To maintain delivery schedules according to the contract agreement

To deal with telephone enquires as necessary in a concise and appropriate manner, recording all relevant information and taking action as appropriate

Ensure verbal and written communication is maintained within the departments

Support new employees in the department

- Must have the ability to communicate effectively with customers and other staff
- Must be able to demonstrate good organisational skills, be able to work under pressure and prioritise customer needs
- Must have the flexibility to work weekends, bank holidays and a 24/7 rostered-on call service
Skills

- Must have the ability to work independently
- Must be able to use a P/C and understand basic IT skills
- Must have the ability to understand the clinical terminology of Flexible Endoscopes/surgical instruments and medical devices.

- Previous SSD / Endoscopy experience
- Previous NHS experience

- Educated to GSCS level or equivalent level of education, training, or experience
- Institute of decontamination sciences membership TVQ Level 1 and 2
