Job overview

This post is intended to provide middle grade experience for those seeking a career in Trauma and Orthopaedics.

Candidates must have completed MBBS or equivalent and had Foundation experience.

Candidates will have basic training in surgery in general and experience in Orthopaedics and have MRCS or working towards finishing part B.

There will be opportunity to attend teaching alongside the Specialist Registrars in the Leicester training programme within the limits of service commitments.

The job will support candidates wishing to sit the FRCS examinations and we have a good track record of successful attainment from our unit. 

Main duties of the job

The post duties involve middle grade duties including elective clinics, elective theatres, fracture clinic and trauma operating lists.

There is 1:10 on call with prospective cover. 

Friday afternoons are protected training sessions and governance meetings. The post holder will work closely with the consultants and received one to one informal tuition. 

The post holder is responsible for one of the Orthopaedics consultants teams and will rotate between those teams on a 6 monthly basis
