This is fixed-term post for 6 months.

An exciting opportunity to join our busy Urology Team has arisen, we are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated individual to support the scheduling of patients.

You will be working as part of a busy team and will need to have excellent communication skills with proven organisational/prioritising skills.

The applicant should have a proven clerical background and a pro-active approach to undertaking a range of varied tasks.

The Urology team are  a friendly and dedicated group of people, we all achieve job satisfaction and feel we are an integral part in ensuring the patients journey through the  Urology Unit is that of the highest standard.

Main duties of the job

To negotiate and book all patient procedures / diagnostics within the department. 

To be responsible for arranging any follow-up appointments as requested by the clinicians. 

To maintain the unappointed waiting list and ensure patients are booked for the appropriate investigations/ OPA's. 

To deal with telephone enquiries, liaise with internal and external sources to resolve any issues, queries or complaints which may be from patients or relatives and may involve dealing with difficult situations.

To complete the triaging of new patients alongside the consultant to ensure clinics are being correctly utilised.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent level of education, training or experience
  • Excellent keyboard skills and good working knowledge of Microsoft Office in particular Excel spreadsheets
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of medical terminology

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of PAS systems
  • Handling, extracting and interpreting complex and sensitive data, undertaking long periods of concentrated working with unpredictable interruptions
  • Ability to concentrate for long periods of time on a PC
Desirable criteria
  • Previous NHS Experience or Elective Care experience
  • Knowledge of effective waiting list management and patient tracking lists (PTL
