Job overview
Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NHFT) are looking for an experienced, dynamic and self-motivated Pharmacist to join our team as Advanced Pharmacist Medicines Optimisation and Governance
The role will work with a wide range of stakeholders in health and care to deliver pharmacy and medicines optimisation projects. Experience in variety of settings (e.g., primary care/ secondary/ community/ health and justice) and/ or leadership role would be desirable.
As the Advanced Pharmacist Medicines Optimisation and Governance you will work with the Medicines Management Committee to ensure the Committee’s work plan is delivered efficiently, ensuring all Medicines Management Polices, Guidelines, Protocols are reviewed and updated in a timely manner and associated assurance monitoring is undertaken and submitted to the committee.
Your role will include leading on Patient Group Directions (PGDs) ensuring National Standards and NICE guidance are met and developing your already impressive organisational skills by working within clearly defined and often tight auditing project timelines.
Main duties of the job
Main duties and responsibilities:
· You will be the pharmacy lead within the Medicines Management Committee and have a coordinating role in ensuring the Committee’s work plan is delivered efficiently, ensuring all Medicines Management Polices, Guidelines, Protocols are reviewed and updated in a timely and robust manner to ensure that content reflects current national guidance and evidence-based best practice.
You will also ensure associated assurance monitoring is undertaken and submitted to the committee to assure of compliance with and effectiveness of these medicines management documents.
You will deliver medicines management related projects to further advance and support the medicines management strategy and medicines optimisation agenda.
You will be the Pharmacy lead for Patient Group Directions (PGDs) ensuring National Standards and NICE guidance are met
You will be the pharmacy lead for medicine related audits to include POMH and other national audits in addition to internal trust audits. You will be the AMaT superuser for the pharmacy department.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered with GPhC as a Pharmacist
- Evidence of recent continuing professional development
- MPharm degree, or equivalent pharmacy qualification
- Post-graduate diploma in clinical pharmacy (or equivalent level of knowledge and experience
Desirable criteria
- Member of Royal Pharmaceutical Society
Experience
Essential criteria
- Post registration experience within the NHS care setting
- Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Experience of data collection, analysis and report writing. This will include analytical and problem-solving skills, interpretation of a range of options and assessment of data reports.
- Experience of teaching, mentoring and tutoring
- Experience of engaging and communicating effectively with people at all levels. Able to build constructive relationships with good communication skills.
- Understanding of medicines management processes and experience of developing and implementing medicines management policies and procedures
- Experience of planning, implementing, analysing, reporting and changing practice through audit
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of current national quality and patient safety improvement priorities relevant to medicines
- Management qualification relevant to the NHS
- Experience in variety of settings (e.g. primary care/secondary/ community/ health and justice) and/ or leadership role.
