Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Cardiology at Northampton General Hospital has seen exponential growth over the last 3 years. We are therefore looking for an intuitive Senior/Chief Cardiac Physiologist to join our young and dynamic team. In return we offer a recruitment and retention bonus in line with the UHN.

Banding will be dependent on accreditation.

We have developed our services to include a Physiologist-led Pacing and High Voltage service with extensive home monitoring and large numbers of new implants of brady, tachy and CRT devices.

We take pride in our Physiologist led services including Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinic’s, Complex Echocardiography, TILT table testing and Loop Recorder implants.

We offer community hospital clinics and home visits for many of our pacemaker and ICD patients and currently deliver Echo’s in the new CDC hubs.

We have a comprehensive Heart Failure service as part of a truly multi-disciplinary team, including Physiologist-led CRT optimisation and follow up clinics.

High volume complex PCI (including frequent retrogrades) with routine use of IVUS, OCT, laser and rotablation delivered through 2 cath labs.

All of our Cardiac Physiologists are trained to the highest level and can work independently with all diagnostic tests within Cardiac Investigations, including, Complex implants, follow-ups, all areas of PCI and rhythm analysis. Our device service includes all aspects of CRM implants and Follow-ups; this includes CSP Pacing, SICD’s and leadless pacing.

We have a fully paperless pacing system and all of our patients are being followed up on home monitoring, this gives us the flexibility and availability to work from home at times.

We have all the facilities of a tertiary-equivalent Centre, including a modern digital echo lab performing the full range of complex scans, satellite echo clinics and the support of our proactive Cardiologists.

We run a weekly CRM MDT meeting with the leading device consultant to discuss any issues which have been detected.

We regularly hold training sessions to maintain CPD, these are supported by the device reps.

There are exciting opportunities here for the right candidate and we would love to hear from those who have the CRM accreditation and are looking for the next step in their career or someone who is looking to become accredited with support of the skilled cardiac Physiologists in NGH.

We are a forward thinking and friendly department which rewards our staff for their work. We offer flexible working, investment in training and equipment as well as exposure to advanced implants and follow ups.

Northampton General and Kettering General are working collaboratively so there is extended support from Physiologists and consultants across both sites; but there is NOT an expectation to work across sites, this post is for NGH.

All of our Cardiac Physiologists are trained to the highest level and can work independently across all areas of the department
