Job overview

Cardiac Investigations in Northampton General Hospital is looking for a Cardiographer to join a busy cardiology department.

You will be expected to work autonomously and work towards basic cardiac rhythm recognition and recognising an unwell patient.

You will be responsible for updating local databases and spread sheets.

You will be working with and assisting Cardiac Physiologists within Cardiac Investigations but predominantly working autonomously which will require management of your own workflow.

The successful candidate should have excellent communication skills and able to adapt these skills to suit the situation, you need to be friendly, hardworking and work well in a team.

This is a good opportunity to build a strong foundation within Cardiology with the possibility of further formal training once you are in position. This is dependent on performance and personal objectives.

Cardiac Investigations is a Physiologist led service; we are continuously improving the services we offer which will open opportunities for the role of the Cardiographer to change to meet the needs of the developing services.

No experience is required as full training will be given, however a background in health care is desirable but not essential.

Main duties of the job

Main duties involve performing Electrocardiograms (ECG’s), fitting Ambulatory Holter and Blood pressure Monitors.

You will be based in Cardiac Investigations however, we deliver services across the whole of the trust which includes emergency ECG’s and fitting holter monitors on in-patients.

You will be expected to work autonomously and work towards basic cardiac rhythm recognition and recognising an unwell patient.

  • NVQ level 2 or equivilant
