Job overview

We're recruiting a Locum Consultant in Gastroenterology (12-month fixed-term) at Northampton General Hospital, part of the University Hospitals of Northamptonshire NHS Group.

You'll join a progressive, well-established team, working in a forward-thinking service focused on innovation, collaboration, and patient-centered care.

Main duties of the job

You'll deliver a balanced mix of inpatient care, endoscopy, and outpatient clinics, with support from a well-structured team and specialist nursing staff. 

The role includes contributing to the emergency endoscopy rota, working flexibly across sites, and taking part in clinical governance an audit. Development is actively supported, particularly for those progressing through the Portfolio Pathway.

  • Full registration with General Medical Council

QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING

Essential criteria
  • Relevant specialty degree qualification
  • MRCPUK qualification
Desirable criteria
  • Working towards specialist registration via the GMC Portfolio Pathway (previously CESR)
  • MD, PhD or other higher degree

TEACHING / AUDIT / QUALITY IMPROVEMENT

Essential criteria
  • Experience of Audit and Quality Improvement
  • Experience of Teaching Junior Staff
  • Experience of Undergraduate Teaching
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in Curriculum development and delivery

MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE
