Job overview

Main duties of the job

The employing Trust is Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust. The post is covered by the Terms and Conditions of Service of Hospital Medical and Dental Staff (England and Wales), as amended from time to time.

The contract is for a fixed term of 1 years. The successful candidate will be expected to have at least five years of accredited basic general ophthalmic training to the level of OST 3 or equivalent and will be expected to have passed MRCOphth or equivalent.

The successful candidate will be required to maintain registration with the General Medical Council. Essential and desirable person specifications for the post may be found in Appendix 1.

The successful candidate will also be required to reside within 10 miles of the Northampton General Hospital, to maintain his/her residence in contact with the public telephone service, unless specific approval for alternative arrangements is approved by the employing Trust.
