Senior Psychologist

Band 8a

Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to participate in the development of a new clinical service for adults experiencing complex PTSD. We are looking for an experienced psychologist with a background in psychological assessment, formulations, CBT, EMDR a to join our team. This service is a multi- modality, applied psychology-led service in Northamptonshire, established in recognition of an unmet clinical need in local pathways, especially between Talking Therapies and secondary mental health services. The complex PTSD service offers specialist clinical interventions, and also promotes trauma-informed approaches in the wider service and across mental health pathways.

There are also good opportunities for people wishing to work part-time or across a couple of different specialties in the Trust.

We want our workforce to represent the diversity of the people and communities we work with. Studies show that people from minoritised ethnic groups and women are less likely to apply if they dont meet every requirement. You could still be the right person for the job if youre excited about this role, we want to hear from you.

Were happy to consider any reasonable adjustments that you need to be successful. We do everything we can to accommodate flexible working, including compressed or part-time hours, job shares and other arrangements. Please let us know in your application or at any stage of the process if you would like to explore these options.

Main duties of the job

Successful applicants will provide psychological assessment and interventions across the breadth of client groups and presentations that are seen in the team. There are opportunities for specialising in a particular area.  There will be opportunities to provide supervision, consultation, reflective practice and training to the multi-disciplinary teams and you will be supported to do this.

You would be working with other psychology colleagues to deliver and develop the service in a multidisciplinary team environment where the contribution of psychology is well-respected and valued.

The successful applicant(s) would be line managed and supervised by the Principal Psychologists based in the team. . The Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Team Lead also provides support.

Coproduction is highly valued in the trust and we expect and encourage coproduction where possible. Furthermore, we are developing stronger links with third sector and community organisations.

We would consider applications for either full or part-time work and can offer hybrid working.

There is a very large, diverse psychology service of different specialities within the trust that provides extensive support and regular CPD opportunities through monthly psychology meetings and active peer supervision networks.
