Job overview
The purpose of this role is to work with the PMVA Senior Trainer (PMVA Specialist), to ensure the preparation and delivery of a variety of PMVA training programmes for Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust employed staff. These programmes will be in line with corporate business objectives and organizational need.
The post holder will deliver a range of role specific training programmes to incorporate the requirements of the Care Quality Commission, Department of Health, National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence and other assurance bodies as required by professional standards and legal requirements. The post holder will be expected to lead the delivery of these programmes to a range of staff. They will, under the guidance and with the support of senior member of the PMVA team, embed training into practice by acting as an expert resource where appropriate.
To deliver training sessions at an appropriate level for all employed staff as required on a variety of specialist PMVA specific training programmes.The post holder must be physically able to deliver all aspects of training.Keep accurate statistics/records on programmes taught and assist in providing reports as appropriate.
Main duties of the job
To work closely with the other members of the PMVA Department to provide effective and coordinated statutory, mandatory and role specific training. Keep updated with national guidance to maintain an in-depth knowledge and specialist clinical skills.Support clinical skills provision and assess practical competence.Maintain competence in all areas in which post holder has responsibility for providing training. Provide coaching, support and supervision to junior members of the PMVA team. Assist the Senior Trainer and PMVA Manager to provide evidence for National and local clinical governance purposes and other external bodies requiring assurance. To be responsible for own personal/professional development by identifying learning needs and developing strategies for implementation. To undertake any other duties of a similar nature consistent with the responsibilities of this post in order to provide a quality service. To undertake regular clinical practice in a variety of settings to maintain clinical competence and credibility. To take responsibility for their allocated workload, working both autonomously and as part of the team within the PMVA Department. To assist in the evaluation of the training delivered and use the information to inform the delivery of subsequent training programmes. Represent the PMVA Department as required in relation to the development of clinical skills training.Participate in other training deemed necessary within the PMVA Department.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Attend clinical services and risk management operational meetings as required to provide appropriate representation of the PMVA. Utilise risk management systems in NHFT so as to ensure appropriate and timely reporting of incidents and hazardous practice, ensuring the necessary remedial action is taken. Under the guidance and with the support of the Senior Trainer, to act as a resource for clinical support and advise in relation to clinical skills provision. Act as a role model for staff and champion the restraint reduction agenda.

- • Experience and skills in planning and organization of own / team duties • Previous use of written and electronic patient administration and training record keeping systems. • Demonstrable clinical experience within a healthcare environment • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written • Experience of recovery principles and care planning • Experience of work within a multi-disciplinary team. • Have a minimum of 2 years healthcare experience and evidence of continuing development.
Desirable criteria
- • Registered with accrediting organisation (WLMHT) to Assistant PMVA instructor level. • Experience of teaching/training skills. • Proficiency using MS Office including word processing and developing and using PowerPoint presentations. • Demonstrable experience of delivering training in a healthcare setting and the underpinning theoretical knowledge. • Effective presentation skills. • Experience within a mental health, learning disability community and/ or pediatric environment. • Experience of developing and delivering robust audit of services. • Working towards degree in health studies or nursing.
