Job overview

The purpose of this role is to plan, prepare and deliver a variety of Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression (PMVA) training programmes for Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NHFT) staff in addition to providing ongoing professional and educational/development and support for junior PMVA instructors and acting as a role model and expert resource in PMVA related matters.

 

The post holder will provide support and advice to clinical areas on PMVA matters as required. The post-holder will be required to work collaboratively with clinical experts, experts by experience and operational managers to ensure the content and delivery of PMVA training meets the needs of the stakeholders. It is therefore essential that the successful applicant has the underpinning knowledge regarding legislation, national standards, and local policies relevant to PMVA.

Main duties of the job

 

·        Work alongside the PMVA Manager Ward Matrons and Service Managers to deliver PMVA training that meets National standards and the needs of NHFT staff and service users.

·        Support and challenge learners to develop their clinical skills and competencies.

·        Deliver training and educational sessions to individuals and groups.

·        Build strong relationships with external agencies such as the accrediting organisations in particular West London Trust, Restraint Reduction Network, Northants Police.

·        Provide leadership support and facilitate supervision to junior PMVA colleagues.

·        Utilise excellent decision-making and risk assessment skills, which demonstrates sound clinical knowledge in line with the principles of restraint reduction, co-production, assessment of risk, data protection and local policies.

·        Moderate physical effort is necessary for this post including regular periods of driving. It is also necessary to have the skills and dexterity to perform the full range of PMVA techniques.

·        Frequent use of Visual Display Equipment to utilise variety of media such as email, clinical systems, electronic patient records and MSTeams.

·        Support policy review related to restrictive practices, physical interventions, seclusion and associated training.
