Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join the recently expanded MHLDA Care Delivery Pathway supporting two key services; the Adult Mental Health Psychology Team and the Dementia and Older People’s Psychology Service Team. The post holder will work within the busy and energetic teams providing administrative support to clinical and counselling psychologists, assistant psychologists, psychological therapists and the Lead Consultant Psychologists for each service. 

We are looking for a well-established administrator who is enthusiastic and ambitious. The post-holder will be required to assist in the set up of new systems and processes and will play a key part in shaping the administrative support for the services.

 The post will be based at Lotus House in Northampton 

 

 

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will maintain and provide administrative and secretarial support for the Adult Mental Health Psychology Team and the Dementia and Older People's Psychology Service Team. 

They will be required to work as part of a wider hub of other Team Administrators and will report directly to the Personal Assistant to the Chief Psychologist in the MHLDA Care Delivery Pathway, forming part of the administration network within psychology. They will benefit from a comprehensive supervision and appraisal system, with a commitment to staff development. 

The post-holder will work within specialist psychological services, provide cross cover during periods of staff absence, be flexible in their approach and use initiative and judgement to organise their own workload. 

They will have knowledge and understanding of Microsoft packages. They will demonstrate an enthusiasm for professional development and will be motivated to further their understanding and skills through various training opportunities.

  • Educated to GCSE level in Maths and English or equivalent

Skills & Attributes & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Good written & verbal communication skills
  • Computer literate and competent in the use of Microsoft packages including Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Positive and helpful attitude toward mental health service users, carers and other staff members
  • Knowledge of a range of secretarial and administration procedures, including diary management, arranging appointments, minuting meetings and creating and managing electronic filing systems and records
  • Ability to work independently and organise a varied workload, meeting competing demands and working to deadlines where required
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting
  • Previous experience of using the Systmone electronic patient record system
